My primary purpose as a buyer is to coordinate new ideas with the design team and analyse sales history and spend with a merchandiser to build new clothing ranges for UK and international stores. Ranges are built on research, knowledge, analysis, team collaborations, global sourcing and shopping trips and I will then lead and make effective decisions on what to buy for a department with a yearly turnover of £40m. I lead the divisions highest cash taking department and also known as the Company’s USP in the market.
The Buyer owns the operational running of the category through constant review and improvement of administrative processes, collaborating on department budget and spend and analysing sales and stock in line with company targets. Once product is agreed against budgets I then negotiate with global suppliers, create contracts and I am targeted to help grow company in margin; I then manage the product through the supply chain from initial buy to onto the shop floor, reviewing and reacting to sales in a constant cycle.
